Sparks

A year after mounting her metal gallery to her kitchen wall, Rebecca was ready for a session for her holiday/new year cards. I love how the fire of the menorah is a perfect metaphor for Michael and Rebecca’s children. They are such little sparks, with a passion for performance, and fiery personalities.

May they and all their loved ones have a snuggly and meaningful 2020. And may their children shine through life.

Kicking off 2020

Every year, Keller Williams in Roswell kicks off 2020 with headshots for their new Agent Leadership Council, and opens up a few slots for other agents needing new images as well. These stars are gearing up to help set the energy and pace for their market center in the upcoming decade, an effect that will radiate.

We’re doing one more round for a couple of agents that were unable to attend, this gallery will be updated!

Good Wishes

I rifle through the stack of mail, and see something personally addressed. The anticipation of opening a holiday card, in a sea of impersonal correspondence, is tangible. I slide my finger through the envelope, and find warm greetings bedecked by images that I poured my soul into. The elation of creating art… and having it mailed back to you!

I am so grateful that Adrienne Rodden, whom is an incredible interior designer and muralist I’ve known since High School, hired me for the third time to capture the journey of her family- and that I continue to have opportunities to hire her, as well!

For Always

When the cousins come to play from the other side of the world, you make sure the memories last.

Proud Grandma is so excited to admire her sweet babies on her walls daily (on standout Matte Metals), and gift a mini album to her own mother.

If you are a parent, or a grandparent, you know the struggle of getting multiple children engaged in the same moment. I hold your hand through the process, and help you envision your ultimate image. One that captures the spirit of each of your loved ones.

Update! The gallery has been installed!

Moments matter

These babies went on the wall today!

I casually met Tamar through our mutual friend, Faigy. I made note that she was on the “soon to be friend” list. I didn’t know that she had added me to her “I want her to make art” list. She contacted me after our meeting, and said that her family would be all together- not an entirely frequent occurrence- and it was an important and meaningful occasion. It was important to get them together and in good health.

Her sister was on board. Scroll through:

We also designed a gallery for her sister, Leila, and had it shipped directly to her in California:

The home gallery above was designed using our unedited images. The three on the side are for elsewhere in her home. We also created a mini accordion album for them to gift! Each of these rows represent one side of the book that stretches and collapses.

May this beautiful family enjoy years of health and laughter.

Our Introduction

My husband was plugging away as a realtor, feeling fine about his progress and his brokerage. Then he had a stellar transaction with Megan Dwyer, who told him that his true home was Keller Williams. She persisted. She checked in with him. Exasperated, he relented and scheduled a meeting with her market center’s Team Leader. He left telling me he was curious about what would be said, but he had no intention of switching. Fast forward many years, and he now IS the Team Leader of the market center. Megan changed our lives. She introduced our family to an organization that stands behind its belief system: “G-d, Family, then Business.”

Capturing Megan’s headshot was an honor. With new adventures ahead of her, we wish her success, exploration, health, prosperity, and vision.

Sara Sloan Team

Sara Sloan is a powerhouse. She started her business only a few years back, and exploded onto the scene with a growth mindset and vision. Now that her team’s in place, she’s ready for you to know their faces and their energy.

She envisioned downtown Alpharetta as our backdrop. We had so much fun scouting out little nooks and trendy spots. Shout outs to South Main Kitchen, Korner Soak, and Truck and Tap!

Not a Baby

When my frequent client reached out, saying it was time for annual pictures- she needed to expand the gallery on her wall, stat- she explained:

“My youngest loves looking at our pictures on the wall from last year. She loves naming everyone. But when she points to herself, she says, ‘Baby.’ I need pictures that she’ll recognized herself in.”

To the left are our images from 2018, 2019 on the right.

When we were selecting our images, the little one was SO EXCITED to see herself!

It’s incredible to see children’s growth through the years, and see them recognize it themselves. Every day, they get to see how far they’ve come. What a beautiful journey.

Smiles for Smiles

How exactly does one get the opportunity to photograph the smiles of one of Atlanta’s most Brilliant dentistry offices?
You do a family photoshoot. Their extended family sees it, and books you to do THEIR family photoshoot. Their office staff sees it, and says, “We all need new headshots, and we want beautiful photos like the ones you have!”

Wow.

We did this one UP! We brought in Renee Locher Hair and Makeup and went glam! Each person moved seamlessly from the makeup chair in-studio, to in front of camera just outside, all at the Shayna Image compound..

We had FUN! This group was chatty, friendly, and excited. Exactly as I imagine they would be with their own dental clients.

With schedules, lots of people, and primping mixed in, we completed this shoot over the course of two days (and they have another staff member to come!) Lighting shifted dramatically between each person, so the goal in editing was a cohesive look.

Want a smile like theirs? Go see them, and come see me!

Last of the strands

I have such a soft spot for pre/post upshern sessions. It’s such a sweet, sentimental session: the last moment of your baby truly being a baby! That soft, feathery, uncut hair. And then the dramatic transformation after the ceremony.

(You definitely want to click each image to expand)

And here’s our plan for their living room!:

Screen Shot 2019-09-09 at 2.22.42 PM.png

Even more exciting? We have our follow-up session to come! You’ll have to hold tight a few months to see this sweet big boy with his new do’.

This family was a referral from Melissa, and there’s nothing like working with someone who is there because they trust someone that loved their experience and art, and are ready to embrace the same. Thank you to everyone who shares my name and work.

Authentic

My third shoot with the Marvelous Rabba Melissa, and I’ve learned about what she craves: authenticity. She wants gorgeous art on her walls, but she isn’t looking for everyone looking perfectly catalogue chic. She wants the expressions and moments that speak to her everyday life in this phase. The “pouty snuggle face,” the “I’m just silly,” the “I’m totally teenager.” She wants to remember everyone, exactly as they are.

When she knew her brother and nephew were coming to town, she said it was an occasion to be remembered and documented. Our next step together is to mount her gallery wall with images we’ve printed together from this shoot, last year, and occasions before we were blessed to know each other when the littles were littler, and their wedding day. Their growth so far, to be added to for years to come.

Polished

Lesley and Andy Peters’ relationship with Keller Williams is a multi-faceted one that includes functioning as Operating Partners of three market centers, mentoring as MAPS coaches, and inspiring Atlanta with their own stellar real-estate team. Their passion and influence in the company landed them a spot on stage with none other than Mr. Gary Keller himself at Mega Camp in Austin two weeks ago.

I was floored when they requested that I capture their team. Moreso, when the walked out the door announcing that I had nailed their vision, and they looked forward to refreshing their picture with me roughly every 6 months to come, I may have *brushed my shoulder off…

The Best of Each

“My sister and her family are visiting us and our parents from Argentina! Let’s have a photography session, so that we can each hang a piece of art of all of us together in our homes! But… with five grandchildren, how are you going to get everyone smiling??”

Honestly? I’m not.

But if you are going to admire a piece of art every day in your home, and pass it down, it should show every single person at their best. That’s why each piece is a carefully constructed custom art piece. Before, and after:

Can you count the changes? Comment below!

These were some of the sweetest kids. Sam’s smile pushed me over the edge. But you know the drill: out of routine, something chaotic and exciting and new, kids feel and show every moment of it. That’s why it’s my job to show the BEST of each precious human.

Soon, these will look like this on their walls!

I can’t wait to hang this metal of your angels with you.

…And see how your mom is loving her gallery down in Florida! Capturing cousins is magical.

Powerhouse Couple, Indoors and Out

Did you see that video where I was losing my mind about shooting in the new Shayna Image Studio/Compound?

“How’d that go?,” you wanted to know.

Laura and Craig Lerman, a realtor and lawyer respectively, each needed new headshots but desired different looks. So we captured Craig in the studio…

…and for Laura we stepped outside…

It was incredible to be able to get two very different looks in the same space in the matter of minutes.

My big takeaway from this shoot, was that although my chic french doors and ring doorbell haven’t yet been installed, I should still guide clients to the private side entrance to the studio. Otherwise, coming in the front door, they might be busted by my little ones, and then we get a “helper” for the session, who should be in bed.

Laura Lerman-1674.jpg

Lesson learned. Fortunately for me, Laura and Craig are seasoned parents of six who totally embraced it. Laura kept calling MS her “fashion consultant,” and my daughter ate it up.

Laura is loving Real Estate, and you should learn more about her at www.lermanteam.com and on Facebook.

Craig is a Law powerhouse, working with businesses, corporations, and estates. Please visit www.lermanlawpc.com and follow him on Facebook as well.

The Marriage Maven

Kayla and I met through our dear friend, Danit. Years later, when she learned my family yearned to move to her neighborhood, she urged us to consider her street. We would be friends! Our kids would be friends! Two days later, she and her family decided their next steps were living in Israel. So we are not neighbors. We bought her house instead.
Kayla is the genius behind the podcast, “First Year Married.” (Update: now “How to Glow”) She fills you with warm, interesting tidbits and fantastic ways to reexamine situations. She also takes coaching clients. And you need not be in your first year of marriage to grow with her! Before moving, she inquired about a branding session for her business. It was beautifully full-circle that we were able to complete her session at our home.
Check out First Year Married at www.firstyearmarried.com, on Instagram, and on Facebook.

Entwined

She has my dining room table.
I have her moving boxes.
You know those insta-friends? The people who explode into you life and you know it was for good reason, even before you know each other?
When nearly a year ago, I photographed her family, and didn’t want to leave afterwards, I knew.
Melissa is a talented and gifted woman with a Maharat degree from Yeshivat Maharat, a job in Jewish Camping at the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta, and a smile that looks like this:

Now you know you want to be friends with her, too.
We each were actually having really horrible days. I am so grateful for the time we had capturing these in my back yard. It was needed respite.

A peek into a consult...

Yesterday’s pre-shoot consultation was AMAZING!! Want to know what happens at one of these?

We had spoken on the phone so that I could learn about the client, her goals, and then review her options and pricing. Then we scheduled for me to come over.

I showed her all the goodies. She was interested in glossy metals, but wondered if I could produce something that would flow with another gallery she already had.

Oh, you mean a wood-mounted print? Like this?

Screen Shot 2019-06-14 at 11.09.14 AM.png
Screen Shot 2019-06-14 at 11.21.34 AM.png

No problem.

We discussed the image combinations she desired: one with the whole extended family, individual families, grandparents with grandkids, and individual kids.

She showed me what they plan to wear, and it’s PERFECT. The color scheme of blue, white, and black will be phenomenal in her space! The girls’ dresses poof and move and show light and I can’t wait!!

Then I took pictures of her walls where she wanted prints, and measurements. That way, once we finish her shoot, she can see on my computer exactly what her images will look like in her home, on her walls!

I swiped her cc for retainer, and then packed up. But of course, we really hit it off. So we talked. Because one of the best things about my job is the new friends that come along with it!

Adventures Beginning

We met during this shoot, and hit it off: so much so, that at her gallery design appointment, she invited me to travel with her to the other side of the world - and I accepted! I meet clients so that they can tell their story- in their home, and to future generations. Sometimes, I get to become a part of their story, and them, mine.
